Following the launch of the campaign Country Coalition was formed on January 31, 2023, in Addis Ababa with the participation of governments and non-governmental partners.

Debre berhan-Emproved Energy and homes

Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia provides improved energy saving stoves to families who have no alternatives for energy at household level in the town of Debere Berhan and neighbouring localities.
Etegegn Bekele is one of family heads who started to use improved stove. ‘’The new stove saves not only saves firewood but improves health condition,’’ Etagegn Bekele said.

Peaceful life!

“My life in the old house was incomparable with the new life I started in the new house. The old shack was not considered as a home; it was just to stay day and night under a shade. I covered the leaking roof with plastic and the wall was collapsing. I started new season with my children,” Sofia said.  Sofia Sultan lives in Lideta Sub-city of Addis Ababa with her eight children. She moved to Addis Ababa 10 years ago from a small town called Sokoru.

Habitat helps us live together

Lemlem Berhanu broke up in tears when Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia staff spoke to her during family selection visit in November 2018. Lemlem used to live in collapsing old house in the city of Bahir Dar with two children and two sisters. The family had suffered for many years in the house with broken roofs and dirt floor. Considering the housing situation, low income and Lemlem’s heath status, Habitat Ethiopia selected the family to be homeowner.
