Work with families to build their homes and strengthen community
Habitat for humanity Ethiopia hosts national and international volunteers to work alongside families and support our work. We mobilize volunteers for a life-changing mission to help others in need of decent housing, safe water and improved sanitation. Habitat Ethiopia’s local volunteer work and Global Village trip gives our partners the opportunity to make positive and lasting contribution to our efforts to move families out of substandard houses, enable them get access to clean water and improved sanitation facilities. Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia hosted teams of international volunteers under Global Village Program before the program suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19 outbreak. The engagement of international volunteers and partners aims at creating sustainable relations with our partners and leveraging resources on sustainable basis. Over the last 29 years, Habitat Ethiopia hosted more than 1,923 volunteers from USA, Ireland, Great Britain, New Zealand, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands and other countries.
Through this program our partners and Habitat staff had the chance to work on construction sites, visit projects, meet partners families, and see the need on the ground. They also share experiences with families and communities and learn more about the local culture.
